In order to lose weight, people usually go on a diet. Usually, namely young people go on a diet, who are constantly trying to lose weight and look attractive and sexy.

Most often, diets become popular in spring when time of summer vacation and beach season is approaching. Meanwhile, researches show that most diets bring the body more harm than good.

A diet by itself provides steady result, only if the person moves to a healthy diet and active lifestyle. In other cases, diets provide only a short-term result, may violate metabolism and function of digestive tract.

The Atkins diet or protein diet

This diet developed by cardiologist Robert Atkins is based on restricting consumption of carbohydrates and glucose. The daily diet consists largely of protein-rich foods such as meat, eggs, pates, cheese, and fish.

The Atkins diet does not involve use of large amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables. Vegetables low in starch, such as cucumbers, carrots, celery, paprika are allowed in small quantities.

Excess protein intake leads to accumulation of ketones (partial fatty acid oxidation product) and body intoxication. Deficiency of carbohydrates promotes violation of fat and protein metabolism. Lack of fruits and vegetables in the diet deprives the body of many nutrients and leads to malfunction of the gastrointestinal tract.

Mono diet

The essence of mono diet is that the person consumes only one product. There are rice, cottage cheese, apple, cabbage mono diets. Any mono diet is very unbalanced and weight loss happens due to loss of muscle mass.

Studies show that such diets usually do not give a stable result, so the person quickly return to his previous weight at the end of mono diet.

Limitation in food products deprives the body of nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and trace elements.

However, surplus of consumed products can also be harmful to health. For example, fats can increase blood cholesterol level, carbohydrates – sugar level.

Green tea diet

Everyone has long known about the benefit of green tea. It contains antioxidants, tannin, and caffeine. Green tea speeds up metabolism, increases thermogenesis and helps to burn calories. However, it happens if a person drinks not more than 2-3 cups of this tonic tea per day.

Green tea diet is easy to use, but it is stressful for the body, because this diet is meager and almost does not contain any nutrients. It is not recommended to observe this diet for a long time.

Green tea contains catechins – natural antioxidants that neutralize action of free radicals. Their large number in the body promotes active leaching of trace elements (iron), and surplus of caffeine negatively affects the cardiovascular system.

Its excessive use (more than 4 cups per day) contributes to formation of stones in kidneys or gall bladder according to the results of several studies.

Juice Detox

The diet is based on a two-week nutrition, which includes only vegetable and fruit smoothies and fresh juices. It is believed that this diet does not only help to lose extra pounds, but also cleanses well the body of toxins. To eat is prohibited during juice detox.

Juice diet should be dosed accurately; otherwise, its benefit develops into harm. Fruit and vegetable juices, in addition to sugar, contain organic acids that irritate mucous membranes of the digestive system. Fruit acid may cause gastritis or gastric ulcer and provoke caries.

Low fat diet

This is a special diet, which consists of foods with as much as possible low fat. It is believed that limitation of fat consumed will make the body to use its own fat deposits as an energy source.

Harm

If to refuse to use fats for a long time, a deficit of fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E and K may occur. As a result, vitamin deficiency is developing, which primarily affects the person’s appearance. The skin becomes dull and dry, hair and nails – brittle.

Such diet can disrupt hormonal balance and worsen the functioning of organs and systems of the body.
